• Solid if uninspiring

  All-you-can-eat Chinese restaurants used to be an exciting novelty: a challenge, a meal, and an unpleasant bloating sensation all under the same roof. Things have changed a little over recent years, and the Oriental Star's light has, in my eyes, faded in direct correlation with the ever increasing number of all-you-can-eat buffet restaurants.The Oriental Star is a somewhat typical genre restaurant, conveniently situated on the Parade in Leamington, and usually stuffed to its gills with students attempting to cram a week's worth of food into their deprived mouths. Its food is solid, but typical, palatable but unexciting.While the pleasant game of trying to find the most expensive food item on the menu and then eating only that for three hours until you pass out remains fun, it's fun that can be had elsewhere and with a greater degree of invention.

• Prepare yourself for this one!

  A decent Chinese all you can eat restaurant, with the quality you would expect from a more upmarket place. Before 3:00 pm you will eat for about £6.00 (cheaper for young children) but after this time its more like £10.00 each. Definitely worth it though. They have a pretty large selection of starters and mains, and the price even includes deserts, with a few flavours of ice cream on offer as well as a variety of cakes and gateaus etc.The food is quality, with decent tasting meat. I'd go for the tap water drinks wise, mainly to allow more room for food! The staff are helpful and will constantly clear your dirties! The atmosphere is a bit average, but go in a large group (plenty of space) and you'll have a good time.

• Good value chinese buffet!

  This place offers gorgeous chinese at a great price. A wide range of dishes which means you just keep going back and back and back! When i last went the dinner buffet was approx £12 i think, which is great value as you really can pig out! There can be queues for the buffet however but that is pretty common I think with this type of restaurant. It can also be quite crowded and noisy although this doesn't put us off at all! I also wouldn't say the staff were little bundles of joy but the lovely food and amount of it more than makes up for that! It isn't really small child frienly either due to it being so busy and not that huge a seating area.
